The Terra Nova Paradigm
The Tree of Life

A Paradigm of Becoming and Being

A message from my mentor Pamela S. Eakins PhD:

“The Tree of Life is a map, as well as a paradigm, for navigating consciousness. According to philosopher Thomas Kuhn, the foremost contributor to the language of paradigm, a paradigm is the model or pattern we are operating by. Our paradigm allows us to determine what seems fitting and right and what seems out of place or anomalous. Our paradigm allows us to determine if there are problems we wish to solve. A paradigm not only highlights problems, it also provides the means or the apparatus by which to formulate solutions.

In The Structure of Scientific Revolutions (1962), Thomas Kuhn points out how the paradigm – an internally-consistent set of self-evident “assumptions” – allows us to articulate what is known, and then to expand beyond the “known” via specific forms of exploration and experimentation that are generated directly out of the paradigm itself. As we understand and further articulate the paradigm, we simultaneously discover and articulate our own Vision in our own Voice.

In working with a paradigm, we may become aware that we are, in fact, “living by” a paradigm. A paradigm constitutes a worldview. A worldview may be completely invisible, and so commonplace that it “breathes like air.” We may not realize we are breathing that air unless that air becomes tainted. If our survival becomes threatened, we may be more likely to realize the mechanisms of the “operating system” that hold the worldview in place.

The Tree of Life Paradigm – with which we are working in Terra Nova – is believed to have originated as an archetypal ten-point number system in Ancient Egypt. The model was further articulated in Ancient Greece as well as greatly expounded upon by students of Kabbalah through countless generations. It has been preserved and transmitted via the Western Mystery Tradition.”

The Ten Spheres of the Tree of Life show how the Cosmos unfolds and also, as an aspect of the Cosmos, how consciousness itself unfolds. In its essence, the pattern of emergence can be described.

The “Tree” comprises energies that flow from the infinite to the finite.

THE TREE OF LIFE LIVING PARADIGM

  1. Everything originates from the origin, is original, originates and gives rise to the original. At the same time due to universal expansion, everything that originates becomes the center of the Universe.

  2. The Universe is a charged Field wherein aspects are drawn together as well as propelled apart.

  3. The Universe gives birth to further articulations of its own existence.

  4. The Universe organizes and builds systems to sustain itself.

  5. The Universe deconstructs, breaks down and reconstructs.

  6. The Universe is in the continual process of balancing forces and forms and seeking harmonious equilibrium.

  7. The Universe evolves and adapts to changes within its own being.

  8. The Universe develops codes, formulae, and symbols by which it systemically creates sustains, destroys, and remembers.

  9. The Universe absorbs and contains its own experience in a collective “storehouse”, which may be seen or currently unseen.

  10. The Universe, in all dimensions emits what it absorbs according to its nature, both “domesticated” and “wild”.
